Work permit

What is a work permit?
A work permit gives an employee who’s a foreign national the legal right to work in a specific country. It may also be called a work visa.

In Australia, work permits are issued through the Department of Home Affairs. There are many different types of work permits or visas, including a Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482), Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 494), Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417), Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189), Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa (Subclass 186), and Distinguished Talent Visa (Subclass 121).

Why do organisations need a workforce management solution that includes a process for foreign workers and work permits?
When hiring foreign workers with work permits, organisations must be compliant with both Australian workplace and immigration laws. This is a complex space and best left to the professionals. Compliance training might not be enough to protect businesses from risk.

Organisations that fail to comply with immigration and migrant worker laws can face huge penalties, including fines and virtually irreparable reputational damage.

How can organisations safeguard their compliance and mitigate the risk involved with hiring foreign workers?
To prevent problems before they unfold, organisations can implement workforce management software that is compliant with the relevant legislation.
