Roster swap

Roster swap

What is roster swap?
A roster swap occurs when two employees agree to exchange shifts. This might be to help cover things like sick leave and PTO or it might be a straight swap in the event of a prior commitment like a doctor’s appointment.

What is the purpose of a roster swap?
When businesses allow employees to swap shifts they are effectively speeding up rostering processes. For example, if a business does not allow roster swaps then the employee who can no longer do their shift has to contact their manager who then has to contact other employees in order to find a replacement.

With a roster swap facilitated amongst employees, employees can reach out to each other to work out the fundamentals. Making this crucial part of rostering more seamless for everyone involved.

How can businesses account for roster swaps?
In order to maximise the productivity of managers and employees alike, Roubler’s online staff rostering software features an optional feature known as shift swapping. All handled through electronic means, employees can organise shift swapping amongst themselves.

This works to take the administrative burden off managers while still ensuring that there is someone available for every shift. All of which benefits customers and other employees who otherwise may have had to work short staffed.
