Since then, they have scaled up to more than 650 team members, with another 240 joining soon along with three newly built and acquired hotels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With two new locations opening, on average, each year, The Capital Hotels is one of the fastest-growing hotel groups in South Africa. With his experience driving growth despite recent challenges, it\u2019s fair to say John knows a thing or two about disrupting the hospitality sector \u2013 and achieving success in the face of it all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to John, \u201cAn agile approach has been absolutely core to our success. While other hotel groups are still doing things the way they have always been done, at The Capital Hotels we have made a deliberate effort to move quickly and embrace change. It\u2019s about finding solutions where others see obstacles, and saying, \u2018Yes, we can\u2019 when others say \u2018No, it\u2019s not possible\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:95%\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-green-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:21px\"><strong><strong>\u201c<strong><strong>It&#8217;s impossible to adjust to the demands of tomorrow, when you&#8217;re using yesterday&#8217;s technology<\/strong><\/strong>.\u201d<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#989898;font-size:14px\"><strong>\u2013 JOHN SKELTON, CHIEF PEOPLE OFFICER,<\/strong> <br><strong>THE CAPITAL HOTELS AND APARTMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked what value The Capital Hotels team has derived from taking a deliberately disruptive approach, John\u2019s answer spoke volumes to his empathetic management style, and to his ultimate goal of contributing to the greater good of the hospitality industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe industry is broken, and we want to restore it to its original purpose. General managers think they\u2019re above their staff when in fact, their employees are the only reason for their success,\u201d John said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen employees are respected, they will be motivated to focus on providing an exceptional customer experience, ensuring guests feel like they\u2019ve arrived home when they stay with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe always put our employees first. Because of this, we have the best talent to power our growth and are now a leading employer in South Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With nine different hotels in nine separate locations, the Capital Hotels team has a significant challenge in keeping its 650 employees informed.
